FAQS
THE PROCESS
BOOKING FORM
Please follow the link to complete my booking form, this will give me all the information I need from you and it ensures that encapsulation is a safe avenue for you and baby.
COOLER DROP OFF
4 weeks prior to your due date, I will drop your cooler to your door for you to take to hospital with you. Placenta storage instructions can be found on the tag attached to the cooler. Alternative arrangements can be made if you live interstate.
PLACENTA COLLECTION
When your baby and placenta have been born, your birthing partner will need to notify me that the placenta is ready for collection (collection hours are 6:30am – 3:00pm, 7 days a week). For the safety of you and your baby, it is recommended that your birthing partner meets me in front of the hospital building. This minimises the risk of passing on any illnesses to you, your baby and the ward.
PACKAGE DROP OFF
Once I have collected your placenta, the encapsulation process will take between 3-5 days. When your chosen preparation is complete, it will be dropped off along with your capsules and keepsakes to your provided address.

Can I still have my placenta
encapsulated if:
• I have a C-Section? Yes! It will assist in your recovery and hormonal changes as blood loss can be greater and often milk supply is delayed.
• I have a lotus birth? A “partial” lotus birth is possible. The placenta should stay attached to baby for no longer than 5 hours. It’s advised that the placenta is kept on ice during this time. Please contact me for detailed intructions.
• I’m GBS positive? Yes, as long as it is a colonisation and not an active infection. In the case of GBS colonisation, the TCM method must be used to remove the bacteria. GBS bacteria is sensitive to heat, hence why the steaming in the TCM method is necessary.
• Baby is premature? Yes, babies born small or premature are more susceptible to illness and the antibodies in breastmilk are invaluable.
• I have twins/ multiples? Yes, there is an additional fee of $60 dollars because the process takes more time and uses additional supplies.
• My placenta came into contact with meconium? Yes, meconium is harmless and does not contain the fecal bacteria that a normal stool does. The rinsing process will also remove any remaining meconium.
• I have gestational diabetes? Yes. Whether diet-controlled or insulin-controlled, this does not affect the ability to encapsulate the placenta.
• I do delayed cord clamping? Yes, it is highly recommended that all mothers choose to delay cord clamping (when possible) for the benefit of their newborn, there is no effect on encapsulating.
What are the
contraindications for placenta encapsulation?
Smoking or illicit drug use during your pregnancy, GBS infection, infection of the placenta or amniotic membranes during labour (your birthing team will be able to identify this), an anomaly was found postpartum and the hospital needs to test the placenta, Lyme disease, C. difficile, MRSA, Hep B, Hep C, Chlamydia, Gonorrhoea or HIV.
How long will it take to receive my placenta capsules?
The process usually takes a minimum of 3 – 5 days depending on the size of the placenta and the preparation method chosen. It is recommended that you don’t start consuming the capsules until day 3 postpartum. If you’re choosing to breastfeed, this timeframe allows your milk to come in so your body is working with the capsules rather than relying on them for milk production.
How do you ensure safe
preparation?
I uphold the highest standards of safety and hygiene in placenta encapsulation, adhering to the latest Australian health guidelines and sanitation protocols. Committed to continuous learning, I stay informed on the most current research and best practices to ensure the safest and most effective preparation process.
Every aspect of my process is designed to maintain a sterile environment. In my placenta-only processing kitchen, no other food or household activities take place, eliminating the risk of cross-contamination. Access to this dedicated space is strictly limited to myself, ensuring full control over cleanliness and sanitation.
Any materials that cannot be fully sanitised—such as protective plastic coverings, disposable bluey pads, full PPE, and plastic cutting boards—are single-use and disposed of after each placenta. All surfaces, including my stainless steel sink, undergo a meticulous cleaning and sterilisation routine before, during, and after each stage of preparation.
By continuously refining my techniques and adhering to strict health and safety standards, I provide a safe, professional, and hygienic placenta encapsulation experience that you can trust.
How do you encapsulate my placenta?
I begin with a structural and quality examination of your placenta by checking for anomalies, odours, colour, calcification, mucus, blood clots and missing placental lobes. I clean the placenta with cold running water to remove amniotic fluid and meconium. This is when your complimentary placenta print is made. The umbilical cord is then removed and placed to the side to arrange into a keepsake of your choosing. If you have chosen the TCM method, this is where the placenta is steamed for 15 minutes with tonifying herbs and lemon peel. After the placenta has cooled, it is cut into thin slices and laid out on to dehydrator trays which are lined with parchment paper. Your placenta is then dehydrated at 65 degrees for 10+ hours or until completely snap dry. The pieces are then ground down into a powder and tamped into capsules using a capsule filler. The capsules are stored in an amber glass jar with a desiccant dehumidifier and labeled with your name, date of encapsulation and the number of capsules your beautiful placenta created for you.
Which areas are included in your service package?

Additionally, I offer collection from all home births within a 35 km radius of my home in Belconnen. The package also includes cooler drop-offs and final package deliveries within the ACT.
